Warehouse Shift supervisor is an individual who directs and oversees the functions of warehouse clerks, associates and other staff personal. The duties of a shift supervisor are basically of administration and scheduling the working of warehouse employees. However, this position also requires the individual to work in a dynamic environment and exercise prompt decision-making and problem solving abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Scheduling and supervising the activities and the functions of the warehouse staff
Assigning daily tasks and evaluating the work of the subordinates.
Ensuring the proper and timely completion of all warehouse activities.
Interviewing and recruiting employees and organizing on the job training activities.
Ensuring the safety of all workers in the warehouse as per Occupational Safety and Health Administration norms.
Inspecting and overseeing the inventory records of the warehouse and keeping track of all inbound and outbound supplies.
Regularly inspecting and ensuring the maintenance of all warehouse equipment and machinery.
Making inventory and evaluation reports pertaining to the warehouse.
Skills and Specifications
Skills to efficiently lead a team, delegate, supervise functions and keep subordinates motivated.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Outstanding time management skills and knack to solve crisis.
Good interpersonal, conciliation skills and the capacity to network with suppliers.
Education and Qualifications
At least a degree in supply chain management or relevant work experience, general administration or retail from a certified college is imperative.
Post graduate degree or a diploma in stocktaking, management, supply chain or retail from an accredited institution gives an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years experience in warehousing facility activities is preferred.
