NATURE & SCOPE
The pharmacy caseworker is responsible for the processing of prescriptions and assisting the pharmacists in properly dispensing medications to patients offered by Our client’s Pharmacy.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide exemplary customer service to clinics and physicians
Process prescriptions through pharmacy software ensuring all required documentation is adequate and appropriate including (but not limited to) accounts receivables, dosage and dosing intervals, third party billing restrictions, scheduled appointment dates, clinic locations, copayment management, coordination of benefits, assignment of benefits
Understanding, recognizing, resolving third party billing issues
Managing dispensing and shipping schedules
Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements
Accurately dispensing medications to ensure arrival to the appropriate destination on time
Inventory management and reconciliation
Patient follow-up calls for outstanding accounts (ensuring that all medical questions are referred to a pharmacist)
Monitoring of site temperatures when available and reporting any variances directly to the team lead and operations manager
Effectively communicate with both external and internal contacts
Developing and maintaining professional relationships with health care professionals, reimbursement coordinators, provincial ministries of health and private payers
Accurate data entry into various systems
Thoroughly and accurately complete paperwork regarding the processing of materials
Other duties as assigned by management
JOB PROFILE (Education & Experience)
Education and job experience
College Pharmacy Technician Diploma or equivalent
At least 2 years in the pharmaceutical industry in a retail pharmacy setting within the province of Ontario
Experience with understanding of biologics and specialty medications and third party billing issues an asset
Specific skills
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English
Strong computer skills in a Windows environment using MS Office (Excel, Word)
Knowledge of pharmacy software
Knowledge of Third Party Insurance plans
Excellent phone etiquette
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Proven ability to manage time, set priorities and multi-task in order to meet various competing work deadlines
Ability to perform all technical duties involved in successful dispensing of medications
Flexibility in working overlapping shifts during pharmacy hours of operation
Experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical or insurance industry is an asset
This position requires a significant degree of self-starting and independence
